Successful Graduate Donna Geddes

I decided that I would like to be able to do other peoples nails for them and started looking into how to go about doing this. I found the Essential Nails website and the wide variety of courses they provide. At first I was so excited and really wanted to do them all!

The staff at Essential Nails were really polite, friendly and helpful; they helped me find a starting point and recommended the Gel and Maintenance Course which they did a great deal on for me. Doing the Gel course got me my certificate and insurance so I could start work and then I went on to complete the Acrylic, Nail Art and Airbrush courses as well.

I was a bit unsure for a start about not having an actual teacher showing me what to do, however the home learning course suited my lifestyle.

The dvds with each course are brilliant, they help guide you through each step by breaking it down and then once you have learned each step on The Nail Trainer, you get taught how to do the whole hand, not only can you repeat and pause any part of the dvd when it suits you but you can do these courses when you have time and the people at Essential Nails have been so helpful and patient with all my questions.

I did struggle with parts of the courses, but I can assure you with practice and support it possible to get there in the end. Results for all of my courses were – 1 pass, 1 credit and 3 distinctions! I look back at my work sometimes and think wow, did I really do that, it’s amazing; especially with the air brush nails course and now I am away to start working as a mobile nail technician and can’t wait.

I do have a styling business which I started up in May 2011 and its called Compliments, so as well as enjoying nail art and styling I decided to do some of the nail courses and become a qualified nail technician to add this services to my business to expand it. I am so happy I went ahead and did the courses and really enjoyed them too, but the biggest bonus is having the skills I do now in being able to create lovely nails in different ways. I do wish to do more courses with Essential Nails in the future, however for now I am going to get the business up and running and I’ll still be able to look forward to doing another course and when I do I will be able to do it in my own time.
